Pregnant Women May Be Causing Harm to Their Unborn Child

With all the available resources, one would think that women would make sure they were consuming all the required nutrients before and during pregnancy, to have a healthy infant. Unfortunately, the latest studies show that is not the case. Nearly 75% of women may be causing harm or limiting the development of their unborn child.

The published study in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, & Metabolism, spearheaded by the University of Alberta, showed that only 27% of pregnant women consumed enough Omega 3 essential fat. Not only that, but only 25% of the women took in enough Omega 3 while they were lactating.

These findings should shock women - and the medical profession that is supposed to be guiding women and protecting their infants. The fallout from these studies may help explain some neurological abnormalities, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances, which are showing up in our youth.

Why so much concern over Omega 3 deficiencies? Omega 3 is one of the 46 essential nutrients the body cannot make, and must therefore come from an outside source. Deficits have been proven to connect to cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, excessive blood clots, Parkinson's Disease, Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Hypertension, high cholesterol, Alzheimer's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Bipolar Disorder.

Omega 3 is the precursor of many hormones the body must make; it prevents some hormones from disrupting our balance; it is required for cell membrane integrity; and needed for normal regulation of bodily functions. It is essential for the development and growth of the brain and neurological development in the developing fetus. Omega 3 is also essential for visual development.

What makes consuming the Omega 3's even more challenging is that for many women, Omega 3 (ALA) does not easily convert to EPA and DHA in the body, due to missing mechanisms (such as certain enzymes). Both of these essential components play key roles in health and development. That is why taking a blended Omega 3,6,9 supplement is the smartest choice an individual can make to help ensure they are getting the essential nutrients they need, not only for their health, but for the development of their unborn child or nursing infant. The Pharma Defense Omega 3,6,9 contains a wonderful blend.

Sadly, Omega 3 is not the only essential nutrient missing from most diets. Nearly 80% of young children are short in vitamin D and Omega 3. Enerex Botanicals of Canada addresses this with a children's product called Kid's Mega 3D, a great tasting blend that my children absolutely love. It is the only chewable gummy made without all the sugars and sucrose that most companies use. I highly suggest it for all children. And, adults can take it as well!

I wish there was a way that anyone hoping to get pregnant would take a year to get healthy before trying to conceive. Do a cleanse and a heavy metal detox; clear your liver and kidneys of toxins; and, make sure you get an ample supply of all the essential nutrients. The Enerex products SONA vitamin/mineral, Omega 3,6,9, and Greens/Berry will provide these.

This gives your body time to clear any toxins, smoke, alcohol, and/or drug damage, and begin to build a truly healthy body preparing for conception. It is the best way to help make sure you provide the fetus with the best possible chance to be fully developed and healthy. Everything that is in your body is accessible to your unborn child, so having your body in peak health provides the best chance for a happy ending to your pregnancy. There are no guarantees in life, but you will have greatly increased the odds in your favor for both you and your baby.
